I moved to West Asheville one year ago. On arrival, my wife and I had no furniture to our name aside from our dining room table. Where we envisioned this dining room table, in our kitchen, there was not ample space for it to fit. Thus, we actually had no furniture to our name.
Three months later, we lived in a fully furnished home, mostly sourced from furniture we discovered across Western Carolina, though almost all of these pieces—a pair of dressers, a credenza, a headboard, a sitting bench, two desks, two office chairs, a coffee table, two side tables, and two nightstands—were refurbished or completely refinished.

To source an entire home is to scour an entire county, Buncombe county to be exact, and many times, much further. We’ve driven to Mars Hill, Marshall, Sylva, Clyde, Waynesville, Black Mountain, Weaverville, Burnsville, Hendersonville, and Greenville, South Carolina. We love furniture; thus, we’ll do whatever it takes to find furniture we love. And furniture that’s inexpensive.
Across this saga, I stumbled into a few furniture donation store gems and even more wastes of our time. But for the purpose of helping you find furniture for your home, I’m ranking the best locations to find cheap furniture near Asheville, North Carolina. Based on hard-earned experience.
Best Locations for Used Furniture near Asheville
Number 1: Reclaim Madison (798 Walnut Creek Road, Marshall, NC)
Fifteen minutes north on I-26, then twenty minutes west on Highway 70, and you’ll find our favorite store in the whole area.
We’ll them it to them to describe their business (quoted from their website):
“ReClaim Madison is a social enterprise of Community Housing Coalition of Madison County… customers will find a well-curated inventory of salvage building materials, used furniture and appliances. All proceeds from ReClaim Madison sales directly support CHC home repair programs.”
We love a business that supports its community! And the finds we’ve made here! Whoever curates their collection has a great eye. Although their space is small, they’ve got a revolving inventory of vintage, midcentury, and antique furniture (along with a nice assortment of lamps, art, and knick-knacks). From their small store, we’ve purchased our headboard, one dresser, one side table, and one desk, along with nearly all of our wall art.
This is where we’d head first. They’re friendly folks too.
Number 2: Habitat Restore Weaverville (61 Weaver Blvd Ste 101, Weaverville, NC)
Broadly speaking, we’re fans of Habitat for Humanity’s donation stores—you’ll see two on our list—but this particular store in Weaverville always delivers.
Compared to the Asheville location, the Weaverville location has fairer prices… in our opinion. They do have a smaller inventory, but we’ve found that the quality is higher per piece. For restoration projects, I’ve found multiple dressers here for under $50, along with an antique tiger woodgrain dresser. The art here is funky, striking the right balance between “way too old” and “vintage”. We’ve also added pottery, coffee cups, and Christmas decor to our home from this location.
When I head north on I-26, I start getting excited… if I know I’m headed to Habitat Weaverville.
Number 3: Habitat Restore Asheville (31 Meadow Rd, Asheville, NC)
Per numbers of items purchased in a location, this location would top our list. It’s conveniently located near Downtown close to intersection of McDowell and Meadow Road. There’s plenty of parking too (not always a guarantee in Asheville). Our only knock on this place is the price. Other than that, THERE IS SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM.
I’ve bought, fixed, and flipped several dozen pieces from this store. In addition to used furniture, they have really nice used furniture. If you’re in the market for a dresser that’s in great condition that also happens to be from 1960, always check the upper level. The inventory moves quick though, so if you love it, buy it then. No guarantees it’ll be there an hour later. There is nothing secret about Habitat Restore Asheville.
Pro Tip: Be there when the doors open at 9AM on Tuesday mornings (they’re closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday), and get the best furniture before everyone else can.
Number 4: The Regeneration Station (26 Glendale Ave B, Asheville, NC)
The Regeneration Station is synonymous with upcycled furniture in Western Carolina. It’s been a pillar of the community since ’09. But don’t get it twisted: their inventory is high-quality and inexpensive.
TRS, as it’s coined, is dual operation. Most of the store is leased to individual small businesses. I’m one of those small businesses! Over 100 different small businesses make up the bulk of the store, featuring vintage, mid-century, art decor, and more modern home decor, including the best collection of midcentury modern furniture in Asheville. The second facet to the store is its Junk Recyclers operation. They also haul off junk from people’s home. What this lends the store is ample opportunity to locate previously abandoned furniture and sell it cheap to you.
On the way to my own booth, I’ve purchased several items for our home. The deals are too good!
Number 5: WNC Bridge Foundation (75 Fairview Rd, Asheville NC 28803)
This last location is an underrated one. Amidst the retail opportunities, the WNC Bridge Foundation is overlooked. But it shouldn’t be. This operation might have the best price points in town.
As a non-profit that supports several community housing initiatives, the WNC Bridge Foundation also hosts estate sales every two weeks. You can show up to these sales! What they don’t sale at the biweekly estate sale ends up on the floor of their market location. I’ve found fantastic deals on art, knicknacks, and tables. I don’t always go out of my way to stop by, but I don’t know why because each time I do, I leave with something.
